NEWS: Paraguay’s immigration law has been modified as of October 18, 2022.
The details are still sketchy and in the works. We are monitoring the situation and will update you as soon as possible.
A gist of what is being discussed:
- New Applicants will be able to apply for a temporary or permanent residency.
- The temporary residency will be a simple straightforward process and grant a 2-year residency after which it can be renewed for another 2 years or utilized for a permanent residency.
- An Applicant that can show certain ties to Paraguay – details are unclear at this moment – may have the option to apply for a permanent residency.
Our first take is that the changes are subtle and useful as various people have different needs. The new law takes into account that some Applicants will be well served with a temporary residency (low cost, fast, Plan B option for the future) and others as soon as possible (permanent residency).
